Tapas Bread with Garlic and Tomato
Pan con Ajo y Tomate
The basis of Pan con Tomate consists of freshly toasted bread into which a tomato has been rubbed. This easy fingerfood recipe with garlic and pepper on this page is a savoury variation.
For some extra yang we first rub a clove of garlic over the toasted bread. We then rub the tomato into the bread, just like in the basic recipe. We finish this tapa with some freshly ground black pepper and - for the fans - a bit of seasalt.

Toasting bread in a frying pan is real easy!
| • | Cut the clove of garlic in half, put the cutting surface on the bread, and rub a few lines over each slice of toasted bread (you will notice that the sharp edges in the surface of the crisply toasted bread will act like a micro grater); If you are a garlicoholic - like us - we encourage you to thoroughly rub the garlic into the whole surface of the bread, but of course there's no need to exaggerate, and mind your guests! |
| • | Cut the tomato in half and rub it thouroughly into each slice of bread, making sure that the juice of the tomato penetrates the surface of the bread; |
| • | Sprinkle some olive oil over the bread; |
| • | To taste: freshly ground black pepper. And maybe a bit of salt if you like? |
