"Mejillones a la Marinera"
Spanish Mussels in Seaman's Style
During our trip to Spain this summer we had Mejillones a la Marinera in several tapas bars and restaurants, and they were absolutely delicious. These Mussels in Seaman's Style are served as a tapa at the bar, or as an appetizer in a restaurant.
There are many variations on this Spanish recipe, and just as many ways of presentation. The main ingredients of the Marinera sauce are onion, garlic and tomato. For this fast mussels recipe we use the Sofrito, a Spanish basic sauce that we made in advance, and which we also use for the preparation of paellas, for example.

We cooked these mussels following the basic recipe "al Vapor", we then removed one of the two shells of each mussel. The result is a delicious mussel in its own natural spoon!
Our Supporters:
The Salsa a la Marinera is a mix of the Base de Sofrito and the own juices of the mussels, with ground black pepper and finely chopped parsley added.
